Monsignor Hugh O'Flaherty, know as The Scarlet Pimpernel who helped save over 6,000 jews and pow's during world war 2 while resident in The Vatican,  was awarded a posthumous International Humanitarian Award and The freedom of Killarney in The malton HotelKillarney at the weekend. Our picture shows Patrick o'Donoghue, Mayor of Killarney presenting Hugh o'Flaherty, nephew of the monsignor, with the freedom of Killarney and John o'Donoghue presenting the Humanitarian award to pearl Dineen-O'Flaherty.
