AIMS PRESS RELEASE: There was plenty of glitz and glamour in Killarney on Saturday night as The Association of Irish Musical Societies has its Annual Awards Ceremony in Killarney. Over 1,500 people could be heard over the Kerry mountains as the winners were announced by MC Fergal D’Arcy. Many societies were double winners on the night including UCD Musical Society, Dublin were dancing all the way to the trophies winning Best Choreography and Best Choreographer for Leah Meagher for Cabaret and Tullamore Musical Society who took their moment as Chris Corroon won Best Male Singer for his sinful performance as Henry Jekyll in Jekyll &Hyde and also Director Paul Norton who’d plenty to celebrate picking Best Director for the same show. The moment was once again taken by Jekyll&Hyde by Dùn Laoighaire Musical&Dramatic Society as Kevin Hartnett took up Best Male Singer in the Sullivan category.Nenagh Youth Musical Society raised their voices high and took home Best Ensemble. It was a superior night for Enniscorthy Musical Society by winning Best Comedienne for Jennifer Byrne as Mother Superior and Best Technical too. Portlaoise Musical Society rose to the top by taking home Best Overall Show in the Gilbert section for their stunning production of Titanic. Oyster Lane Theatre Group, Wexford flew their flag high taking home Best Overall Show in the Sullivan Section for their breathtaking production of Michael Collins-a Musical Drama.
