21-3-2011: Third generation politiican Johnny Healy-Rae made history when he was co-opted to Kerry County Council on Monday suceeding his uncle Michael who was elected to the Dail and joining his father Danny on the council. Johnny will represent Killorglin in the South Kerry consitiuency while his father Danny will represent the Killarney area. Johnny takes the seat first won by his grandfather Jackie in 1973 and the seat has remained in the family for 38 years. A batchelor, Johnny lives at home with his father Danny and mother Eileen over the pub bearing his grandfather's name in Kilgarvan.
