The new centre, which is nearing completion, will have a main hall big enough for an international basketball court, as well as meeting rooms, changing rooms, kitchenette and stage. A second floor will have additional meeting rooms and offices, as well as a balcony overlooking the main hall. When the hall and playground are complete at the end of 2014, the communities of Castlemaine, Milltown and Listry will have a wonderful facility to cater for all age groups into the future. In recent years Milltown has seen the largest growth in population of any community in Kerry. In five years over 400 houses were built in and around the village, and each day almost 800 pupils attend its schools. There are very few facilities for young people in mid Kerry. Loneliness and isolation are serious issues for the elderly. The existing hall has served Milltown well for over 50 years, but it is no longer enough.Tickets for the Joker Draw are €2 each or 3 for €5. Weekly draws will be on Sunday nights at 10.00pm. The winning ticket each week gets to turn a card on the board – turn the Joker, win the jackpot! Each week there is one less card on the board so the chance of winning increases and so does the excitement. The first draw is in Larkin’s on Sunday August 3rd with a starting jackpot of €2,000. It’s a great cause and a great bit of fun so please buy a ticket, sell a ticket and be a part of it.
