In front of blindfolded chefs Martin Bealin, Jean Marie Vaireaux and Mark Murphy, student chef, Liadan Sheehy her running and cycling skills as they prepare for the Dingle Culinary Pentathlon, which will take place on the first day of the Dingle Food Festival October 3rd-5th and will see students from professional culinary schools throughout the country test their athletic and cookery skills to the limit. To win, students will have to race through the town, on foot and by bike, picking up a blind basket of ingredients en route. They will then have to create a 2 course lunch in a heated cook off that will be judged by peers and top professionals alike.

Having been voted the No.1 Foodiest Town in Ireland earlier this year, Dingle will kick off its hugely popular Dingle Peninsula Food Festival, 3- 5 October, with a feast of culinary athletics, leaving visitors in no doubt as to why the town won this much coveted title.
The inaugural Dingle Culinary Pentathlon, which will take place on the first day of the Festival, will see students from professional culinary schools throughout the country test their athletic and cookery skills to the limit. To win, students will have to race through the town, on foot and by bike, picking up a blind basket of ingredients en route. They will then have to create a 2 course lunch in a heated cook off that will be judged by peers and top professionals alike.
To celebrate the festival’s 8th anniversary, The Taste Trail, one of the most popular ingredients of the weekend, will now take in 80 establishments around the town; Derry Clarke, who has created the ultimate Dingle Pie, will be raising funds for charity on the Trail at Liam O’Neill’s art gallery, while milliner, Kathleen McAuliffe will be serving up Mad Hatter cocktails with Dingle Gin and jazz.
