7-1-2014: The wreck of The Sunbeam at Rossbeigh Strand in Co. Kerry which has been embedded in the sand for 111 years but last night's storm propelled the wreck from its sandy grave and dumped it on the rocks about half a kilometre away. Hundreds of people are flocking to see the wreck and also the wrecked shorline.

Picture by Don MacMonagle HISTORY: Schooner Sunbeam. A Wooden Schooner Built in 1860 by Walters in Exmouth. She was owned by her Builder up to the late 1870s and was then bought by Richard Kearon of Arklow. On January 1st 1903 when on a Voyage from Kinvara to Cork she was driven ashore in a storm and wrecked with no loss of life. The wreck remains on Rossbeigh Beach.
