24-6-2012: The ancient ritual of lighting bonfires on St. John's Eve (June 23rd) took place all over Achill Island in County Mayo from midnight on Satiurday through Sunday morning. Tens of bonfires were lit on mountain tops and beside beaches with locals competing with each other for the biggest bonfire.
