A replica of the Spirit of St. Louis, the first plane piloted by Charles Linderberg to fly solo accross the Atlantic is pictured after landing in Killarney Racecourse in 1955. This replica was used in the movie staring James Stewart and recounted the historic flight. The first landfall seen by the pilot after crossing the Atlantic was The Skellig Rocks in Dingle Bay. The original plane is on display in the Smithsonian Institute in the US.
