Daniel MacMonagle founded his photographic company in Killarney in 1913 along with Killarney Printing Works and The Kingdom Newspaper. Born in Philadelphia, USA, of emigrant parents he was raised in Rathmullan, Co. Donegal. He married Catherine Fogarty from Killarney. They had five sons, Paddy, Sean, Donal, Louis and Harry and two daughters Mai and Kathleen. He was honoured with a room dedicated to his memory in Muckross House, Killarney. Through his press and postcard photography he pioneered Killarney tourism. |

Donal MacMonagle was one of three sons who continued the family tradition in photography. He worked as a photographer with the Connaught Tribune, Irish Press, Limerick Leader, The Kingdom, Kerry News and Kerry People. One of Ireland´s most outstanding photographers of his generation his work has been exhibited all over the world. A career that spanned over 50 years in active news photography he covered all major news events in Ireland post World War 2. His brothers Harry (RIP 1994) worked with The Kerryman and The Daily Express while Louie (RIP 1975) was staff photographer with The Cork Examiner. Married to Bernadette Cusack from Limerick they had eight children, Rosaleen, Kathleen, Louise, Don, who now runs the company in Killarney, Mary, Anne, Sean and Edel.. |

Don MacMonagle is the elder of two sons of Donal and runs the business in Killarney. He has kept the company at the cutting edge of photography with an array of prestigious awards from the Press Photographers Association of Ireland (PPAI). Eamonn Keogh is a grandson of Daniel MacMonagle and works independently but closely with macmonagle.com. His skills and knowledge about all thing news and sport is second to very few and his keen eye always captures the moment. Eamonn previously worked in The Kerry People and The Kingdom Newspapers.
